IS THERE A COST TO ACCESS, DOWNLOAD OR USE ASSETS?

There is no charge to use the assets, provided you comply with the Terms of Use, individual Asset Licence conditions and follow any Usage Instructions or Brand Guidelines provided.

DO I NEED TO REGISTER OR LOGIN TO SEARCH FOR ASSETS?

In most cases, you can search through the Assets in the library without registering or logging in. From the home page or Assets page, you can use the search box to search either by keywords (tags), or Asset id (if known). However, by registering and logging in you may be able to find and access Assets that would otherwise not be visible to you, based on your user role and status. 

DO I NEED TO REGISTER OR LOGIN TO DOWNLOAD ASSETS?

Yes, all users are required to register/login to be able to download any Asset from the Toolkit.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

From the home page, click on the ‘login/register' button in the top right corner. From there you need to supply and validate your email address and then set a password and complete your user profile. 

Once registered you will be assigned the default user role. To access some Assets and more advanced features you may be granted a different user role by the site Administrators. Alternatively, you may receive an emailed User Invitation with a different user role pre-assigned to you. If you need a different user role, please contact us

HOW DO I RECOVER MY LOST PASSWORD?

If you have lost your password, you will have to reset it. To do so, click the Forgotten Your Password link on the login form and enter your registered email address (the email you registered on this site with). We'll send you an email with instructions on how to reset your password. 

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE LENGTH OF TIME I CAN USE AN ASSET?

That depends. If the Asset has an Expiry Date (which can be found in the Asset detail page and Licence detail panels when downloading, sharing and sending), you must cease all use of those Assets at the date of expiry. If there is no Expiry Date, then you can use the Asset as long as you like OR until the owner of the IP (in most cases the brand/company/organisation providing it to you) requests that you cease using it. 

WHY IS THE SOUND NOT WORKING IN SOME OF THE VIDEO CLIPS?

Some of the videos available are raw footage and do not include a soundtrack. Usually you will see an Audio icon overlay indicating if the video has an Audio track. 

CAN I EDIT THE ASSETS I DOWNLOAD?

Brand identity and logos should never be edited, altered or broken apart. Other Assets should generally not be edited or altered. However if the Licence rules or Usage instructions specifically allow for repurposing or alteration, editing of Assets is permissible. 

CAN I USE ASSETS FOR DOMESTIC PROMOTION?

All assets MUST ONLY be used for the purpose of promoting New Zealand and/or New Zealand products and services offshore. Please refer to asset licence for more information.

 

CAN I USE ASSETS IN PAID MEDIA?

That depends. Refer to the License conditions for each individual Asset. If mentioned in Licence conditions “unpaid media only”, the Asset must NOT be used for paid media. However, if the Licence conditions allow for “paid and unpaid digital and print media”, then you can use the Asset in paid media. “Paid” means where payment is (or is agreed to be) received or paid for the marketing activity, and/or media space, and/or advertising space, and/or publication, in which the Asset appears, but excludes tradeshows.

HOW DO I GET A DIFFERENT USER ROLE?

User Roles are used to give Users certain abilities such as the ability to edit meta-data, upload Assets, view private Assets, etc. The public (not yet registered or not logged in) are deemed to be 'Guest' users. All registered users get the role of 'Standard User' by default. If you think you should have a different User Role, please contact us and request a role change.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MAKING THE HERO FILM?

New Zealand story creates quality resources arming New Zealand exporters, the Government and its agencies with the tools, skills and knowledge to communicate more consistent and compelling stories about New Zealand to shift perceptions, open doors and grow opportunities for our country. This film will be used to inform and inspire global audiences on what New Zealand stands for.

HOW WILL THE HERO FILM BE USED?

The film will be used online across New Zealand Story channels, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn with the aim of showing the fresh perspective that New Zealand brings global consumers, buyers, visitors, students, migrants and workers. 

 

The film is also available to Government agencies and New Zealand export businesses who can use the content within business meetings, events and presentations where help is needed to reinforce the unique attributes that sets New Zealand apart from other countries. Add view / download links

WHY ARE YOU MAKING THIS HERO FILM NOW?

The government agencies responsible for marketing New Zealand to the world have always worked hard to coordinate efforts for maximum cut-through.

 

The events of the past 2.5 years have provided further stimulus to refine our collaborative efforts to do this even better. New Zealand has experienced a significantly higher level of international attention since early 2020 – due in part to how the world has perceived our management and response to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are aiming to maximise this global attention by projecting a refreshed and unified Brand New Zealand to our international customers, business partners, visitors and government associates.

 

The film ‘Aotearoa New Zealand, Our Story’ updates the ‘New Zealand story’ at a critical time of global reconnection when businesses need to promote their Kiwi attributes to the world.

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THE DIRECTOR AND TALENT FOR THE HERO FILM?

Aotearoa New Zealand, Our Story’ is directed by award-winning Rotorua filmmaker Mike Jonathan [Tainui, Te Arawa, Mātaatua]. Working closely with Māori creatives on the development of the film was incredibly important. Mike pitched to direct the film and was selected for his vision to capture the unique spirit of New Zealand’s Māori heritage through the 3 minute film. 

 

Director Mike Jonathan selected Wiremu Kamariera as the lead talent in the film. Wiremu was selected through a casting process and blew the production team away with his energy, spirit and fluency of te reo Māori.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT NEW ZEALAND’S VALUES ARE?

New Zealand Story led a robust stakeholder participation process and invited key leaders across NZ Inc stakeholders, Māori stakeholders in government, regional economic development organisations, rangitahi/young leaders and our creative agency partners. 

 

Through this extensive engagement, four values were developed and tested for resonance with B2C and B2B audiences across nine international markets. It was important that these values reflect who we are, what we stand for and what we offer the world.

WHAT IS THIS NEW HERO FILM ABOUT ?

‘Aotearoa New Zealand, Our Story’ is directed by award-winning Rotorua filmmaker Mike Jonathan [Tainui, Te Arawa, Mātaatua]] and proudly celebrates the spirit of New Zealand’s Māori heritage. The film, grounded in our values which have been reshaped with events over the past few years, provides a refreshed narrative for our partners to promote New Zealand.

 

The three-minute high-impact film encapsulates the uniquely New Zealand perspective our nation offers global trading partners, consumers, visitors, students, migrants and workers – arming businesses, exporters and diplomatic leaders with an evolved, modern New Zealand story. 

 

We know international audiences admire our embrace of te ao Māori. Cementing this ethos by working closely with Māori creatives to develop the film was incredibly important to us. Director Mike Jonathan says it was a privilege to lead the film’s creative direction that put te ao Māori front and centre.  

 

“In three beautifully crafted minutes, the film encapsulates the values that set our country apart and create interest offshore. I’m incredibly proud of my part in capturing the national strengths and values that reflect who we are, what we stand for and what we can offer the rest of the world,” says Jonathan. 

IS THIS NEW HERO FILM REPLACING THE ‘INSIDE STORIES’ FILMS? CAN I STILL USE THEM?

No, this is a new piece of content that is complementary to the ‘Inside Stories’ films and plays a different role. You can still use the ‘Inside Stories’ films which can be found online via our toolkit here.

IS THIS NEW HERO FILM REPLACING THE ORIGINAL ‘OPEN STORY’ FILM? CAN I STILL USE IT?

Yes, this is a new piece of content that replaces the original ‘Open Story’. The ‘Open Story’ will be removed from New Zealand Story channels on 12 October 2022. 

 

‘Aotearoa New Zealand, Our Story’ is the latest tool designed to propel New Zealand’s brand and reputation internationally.
